Businesses continue to show their support for local champions

1 August 2018

Each year the Community Champion Awards receive sponsorship from local businesses and this year even more businesses have got on board to show their support.

Without the support of local businesses, the awards would not be possible.

New to the Community Champion Awards for 2018 are:

  • Britcon UK Ltd – Headline sponsor

  • Road Traffic Solutions

  • National Online Safety

  • Know Media

Shaun Hunt, Chief Executive at Britcon UK Ltd, said:

“We are proud to be Headline Sponsors of the Volunteer category within these worthy awards that highlight the truly amazing and selfless achievements of people in our local community.  Britcon is a locally established, family run business that enjoys national success but is firmly rooted in North Lincolnshire. We look forward to recognising the inspirational work of the award winners.”

Tom Mooring, Head of Business Development at Road Traffic Solutions, said:

“At Road Traffic Solutions it is our mission to champion local inspiration through the acts of individuals. We, ourselves, have won awards within the area through having our efforts recognised. We think it’s only fair to not only reward companies, but to reward and show individuals just how much their outstanding work for the community and area is valued and cherished. Through the outstanding achievements of individuals, these achievements can bring change and inspiration for the whole area – this is why we are proud to be sponsoring the Outstanding Achievement Adult Award this year.”

James Southworth, Managing Director at National Online Safety, said:

At National Online Safety it is our mission to empower every member of the school community with vital information they need to help keep children safe when using the internet. As a Scunthorpe-based company working nationally to support whole school communities, we are very proud to see the efforts of local people being recognised for the outstanding work they provide to the communities we live and work in. We are delighted to sponsor the Outstanding Contribution to a Safer Community Award.”

Luke Drewery, Creative Director at Know Media, said:

We have filmed the North Lincolnshire Community Champion Awards for the last 5 years running and it is truly an honour to capture and share so many wonderful stories of inspirational people in our local area. Offering sponsorship of an award allows us to contribute in our own small way to celebrate the great work carried out in our community."

Not new for this year, but a new headline sponsor is Paul Fox Estate Agents.

This year’s ceremony is on Thursday 22 November at The Baths Hall in Scunthorpe and will recognise the achievements of individuals and groups for their contributions to the community.

There are 23 awards that you can nominate individuals and groups for.

You can nominate now online. Alternatively you can contact the business and integration team on 01724 297270 or emailing community.recreation@northlincs.gov.uk for a nomination form.

Do you know an individual or group that deserves an award:

  • For the time they have dedicated to volunteering?

  • For their contribution to the health and wellbeing of the community?

  • To recognise their personal achievements in overcoming barriers or excelling in a sport or the arts?

  • For their work in the local community?

  • For being a true inspiration to others?

Make sure they get the recognition they deserve and nominate them for a 2018 Community Champion Award. To find out what each of the 23 awards are, go to the Community Champion Awards page.

Cllr John Briggs, Mayor of North Lincolnshire said:

“It is wonderful that we continue to receive support from local businesses year after year to help make the Community Champion Awards the huge success they are today. I’d like to say thank you to our new sponsors and welcome them to the Community Champion Awards family.

“Without the support of all our sponsors lots of people may go unrecognised for their selfless acts and amazing efforts.

“If you know an individual or group that deserves a Community Champion Award, make sure you nominate them. Whether it is a personal achievement, inspiration to others, the work they have done in their community or volunteering their services for a good cause, we want to hear from you.

“We are always blown away by the courage, selflessness and determination shown by all nominees. It is truly amazing to be able to hear all the great stories of people in North Lincolnshire every year.”

Winners receive a trophy and certificate, and runners-up receive a certificate.

Since the council’s Community Champion Awards started nearly seven years ago over 130 awards have been given out.

The closing date for nominations is 30 September 2018. For more details about the Community Champion Awards, visit the Community Champion Awards page.
