Appeal for school crossing patrol at Berkeley Circle

Appeal for school crossing patrol at Berkeley Circle

3 August 2018

Leader of North Lincolnshire Council is appealing for people to get in touch to help children cross the road safety at Berkeley Circle.

Berkeley Circle is a very busy junction in Scunthorpe and one of the main routes into the town.

Two schools are situated nearby – Berkeley Primary and St Augustine Webster Catholic Primary Academy.

The council put up a recruitment banner until the end of term outside the school and the school put out information on the vacancy in their newsletters. It has also been advertised on the council website.

Despite the council’s attempts to recruit someone suitable for the role, the vacancy still remains.

The hours are just one hour 20 minutes per day (six hours 40 minutes per week) term-time only. The pay is £8.73 an hour. Uniform and equipment is supplied ad training is carried out on site with ongoing support.

Cllr Rob Waltham, leader, North Lincolnshire Council, said:

“School crossing patrols do an amazing job in helping keep thousands of school children safe when crossing roads throughout North Lincolnshire.

“It is vital that we find someone before the kids go back to school in September. Berkeley Circle gets very busy, particularly at peak times, so if anyone can help, please get in touch.”
