North Lincolnshire Youth Council Annual General Meeting

14 July 2017

The North Lincolnshire Youth Council is holding their Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Civic Centre on Thursday 20 July 2017 from 5pm to 7.30pm.

The meeting provides the opportunity for partners, supporters and elected members to meet some of the young people who have engaged and contributed to the work of the youth council, and discover the fantastic work that the council does.

At the AGM, young people will be encouraged to put themselves forward for the following roles within the youth council:

  • Chair

  • Minute taker

  • Social media champion

  • Youth councillor for democracy

The award for Youth Councillor of the Year will also be presented on the night. The award has been voted for by members of the youth council, who were asked to vote for the person they thought deserved the award based on their skills, abilities and personal qualities.

If you are a young person aged 11 to 20, want to have a say about things that matter to you, and want to help influence decisions made about your life, then come along to North Lincolnshire Youth Council AGM meeting.

The Youth Council seeks to:

  • Provide a forum for young people to have a voice on things that matter to them

  • Represent and communicate the views of young people aged between 11 and 20 in North Lincolnshire to decision makers and the wider North Lincolnshire community

  • Communicate and promote the views of young people

  • Raise the profile  of young people in a positive way

  • Encourage young people to be good citizens, so they act with understanding and communicate between themselves and their communities

  • Highlight issues affecting young people

Cllr David Rose, Cabinet Member for Children, Families and Learning, said:

“North Lincolnshire Youth Council play an important role in this authority and I have been very impressed with the mature way they represent the views of young people in this area. The Annul General Meeting is a great way for partners, supporters and elected members to meet the young people of the Youth Council, and a chance to welcome more new members.

"You will be able to hear about all the fantastic work the youth council does in the Young Voice Annual Report 2016 to 2017 available at the meeting. This will also be available to view on the North Lincolnshire Council website, after the AGM.”
