Welcome to North Lincolnshire Museum

North Lincolnshire Museum offers great day out for all the family. Featuring a range of permanent galleries and a changing exhibition gallery, the Museum offers a history experience for all the family. You can explore through a range of award winning collections and interactive displays

After receiving an Arts Council England grant in 2015, we were delighted to open our brand new room for under-fives in summer 2016. The room offers a fun and safe environment for children to play and learn. Come and explore our archaeological dig and mini museum wall displays.

Our Courtyard Tearoom and garden area offers a range of snacks and drinks. We also have a gift shop. Free Wi-Fi is available within some gallery areas and within our tearoom and courtyard area.

By car: You can use the zoom function on our interactive map to show the principal routes into Scunthorpe. There is a free car park for visitors behind the Museum. The car park is open from 10am to 4pm.

By train: The railway station is just a two minute walk from the Museum. Turn left out of the station, walk up to the road junction and the Museum is in the gardens on the opposite corner.

By bus: The bus station is in the town centre. Walk through The Foundry to the High Street. Turn onto the High Street. Continue up the High Street until you reach the traffic lights. Turn left onto Oswald Road. The museum is approximately a five minute walk away on the right, just before St. Lawrence's Church.

The Courtyard Tearoom can be found in the Museum courtyard. It is stocked with a wide range of drinks and snacks for the whole family. We also offer a takeaway service. See our specials board daily for new offers of the week. We have been awarded five stars for food hygiene.

We were delighted to receive an Arts Council England grant in 2015, which has allowed us to carry out some refurbishment work to our galleries and visitor areas.

On Saturday 13 February 2016 we re-opened our brand new Post-War Gallery which features a 1950s style kitchen, 1960s living room and 1970s collections items. Discover the lifestyle of these decades.

You can also take part in activities and games, such as dressing up, kitchen sensory board and object handling.

Improvements to reception and the gift shop offer a fresh and welcoming look. It includes a larger range of pocket money items, merchandise and books.

The new Courtyard Tearoom offers a brand new snack and lunch menu and takeout service.

Dudley's Den, our under fives room now offers a new experience for younger children and families.

The sea themed activities will allow babies and young children to explore textures, colours and sounds. For older children they can explore the world of archaeology by taking part in a brand new dig activity. Activities and sessions for children under five take place in this room most days.

Further refurbishment is taking place during January and February 2017.
