Special Educational Needs and Disability, Information, Advice and Support Service (SENDIASS)

Special Educational Needs and Disability, Information, Advice and Support Service (SENDIASS)

SENDIASS (formerly known as the Parent Partnership Service) provides a free, impartial and confidential service to parents and carers of children with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND) aged 0 - 25. We also support children and young people with SEND.

We offer information, advice and support on a range of issues that include:

  • Special educational needs and disabilities

  • Disability discrimination

  • Medical needs

  • School admissions, transitions and exclusions

  • Other issues such as bullying and transport

Through individual casework we:

  • Listen to your views

  • Explain your rights and responsibilities

  • Give impartial information and honest advice

  • Provide practical help with form-filling and letter writing

  • Support you at meetings

  • Try to ensure that your voice is heard and that you are involved in decisions that affect you

  • Provide access to an Independent Supporter (IS) if you are requesting an Education, Health and Care (EHC) assessment or subject to an Annual Review

  • Signpost you to other sources of information, advice and support

We also have a role in providing training and informing local policy and practice.
