Community hubs

Information about community hubs in North Lincolnshire.

Our community hubs

Our community hubs are based throughout North Lincolnshire. They make it easier for residents to access information, advice and support, and take part in activities to improve their health and wellbeing.

The hub spaces are open to everyone. They are a central point in the community with support and activities for all – young and old.

Aim of the hubs

The aim of the hubs is to:

  • improve health and wellbeing and outcomes for local people
  • develop skills and employability for residents, with a clear path to skilled jobs
  • create employment and volunteering opportunities
  • reduce social isolation by connecting residents to activities and services in the community
  • provide information, advice and guidance to local people based on individual need.

The offer in the hubs is built around the five steps to wellbeing. Easy-to-access programmes such as physical activity, social action, volunteering, health and wellbeing, employability and more are available. These activities enable people to maintain their independence, improve their health and wellbeing and develop a range of skills.

Direct help, advice and guidance is provided to meet the needs of residents and enable them to access the support and information they need to live safe, well, prosperous and connected lives.

Hub programmes

Examples of what is available to residents through the hubs programme includes:

  • bespoke IT training sessions to enable residents to take advantage of the social and economic benefits of being online
  • health checks for eligible residents as well as a range of specialist surgeries at certain times throughout the week
  • adult education and family learning sessions
  • general advice and support on council and community services
  • physical activity sessions to enable residents to get more active
  • health sessions around common medical conditions such as cardio-vascular disease and rehabilitation programme for people with chronic joint pain
  • social wellbeing activities that bring the community together such as healthy eating sessions, book clubs and knit and natter sessions.
  • a range of activities for children and young people which support wellbeing, including clubs and school holiday activities.

Facilities within the hub spaces include sport and leisure facilities, public libraries, digital technology, lifelong learning facilities, community kitchens and much more.

The flexible spaces are intended to support a range of community-led activity provided for by a range of organisations across public and voluntary sectors, who can provide additional health and wellbeing support. By working through these integrated approaches, members of the community receive joined up, quality, consistent information and support.
