Allotments

Have you thought about what benefits an allotment could bring to you, including eating freshly grown vegetables, exercise and fresh air?

We own and manage 427 allotments at five sites in Scunthorpe:

  • Buckingham Avenue
  • Bodmin Road
  • Healey Road
  • Somervell Road
  • Bottesford Lane (Wheatfields)

To determine if a plot is available at your preferred site use our online form:

What will it cost?

Rental cost for a plot is £35 per year, or a half plot costs £17.50 per year. Rent is payable when you are invoiced at the beginning of each financial year, usually mid April. You can also rent a cubicle (a small lock up for tools, for example) at an additional cost of £9 per year.

What are people allowed to grow?

You can grow fruit, vegetables, plants and flowers.

Is there a waiting list for allotments?

If a site is fully occupied, names are taken and put on waiting lists. Please enquire to see if the site you are interested in has any vacant plots.

What happens if I am accepted?

Once you have been allocated a plot you will need to sign a tenancy agreement before you will be given possession of the plot.

If you want to add a shed or glasshouse you must ask permission in writing; either by email or post. Design sheets are available for this purpose, which are enclosed with the tenancy agreement.

How can I apply for an allotment outside of Scunthorpe?
